Fada Lapsi. Broken wheat or bulgur wheat also popularly known as fada, lapsi or dalia (daliya) is very healthy as compared to rice or any other grain. It is rich in iron, fibre, magnesium and many minerals. Fada Lapsi is a traditional recipe also popular in Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
To make lapsi, we have to use Fada/Daliya/Bulgur Wheat along with clarified butter/ghee, jaggery, flavored using cardamom powder and garnished with nuts and raisins. Fada means broken wheat and Lapsi means halwa. Broken Wheat is nothing but whole raw wheat grains cleaned and then processed coarsely. You can cook Fada Lapsi using 7 ingredients and 10 steps. Ingredients of Fada Lapsi
- You need 1 cup of Dalia / broken wheat.
- It’s 1/4 cup of Ghee / Clarified Butter.
- You need 1/3 cup of Natural Jaggery.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of Cardamon Powder.
- Prepare 2 tbsp of Cashews Chopped.
- Prepare 2 tbsp of Raisins.
- Prepare 1.5 cups of Water.
As it doesn't undergo refining it is very healthy. Fada Lapsi step by step
- In a pressure cooker, add ghee..
- Add cashews and raisins and fry untill light brown. Set them aside.
- Now in the left ghee, add Dalia and fry on low flame. Add. A tbsp or more ghee if needed..
- It will slowly change colour. Keep roasting untill it turns brown in colour and turns aromat..
- Now add water and cook for 5-6 whistles. They should be cooked completely but still be dry..
- The dalia will puff up and look like small golden balls. Now add jaggery..
- Jaggery should be chopped in small bits to cook evenly..
- Keep mixing untill jaggery mels and ghee seperates..
- Now add cardamon and nuts and mix well..
- Serve hot..!.
