Fada Lapsi. Broken wheat or bulgur wheat also popularly known as fada, lapsi or dalia (daliya) is very healthy as compared to rice or any other grain. It is rich in iron, fibre, magnesium and many minerals. Fada Lapsi is a traditional recipe also popular in Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
To make lapsi, we have to use Fada/Daliya/Bulgur Wheat along with clarified butter/ghee, jaggery, flavored using cardamom powder and garnished with nuts and raisins. Fada means broken wheat and Lapsi means halwa. Broken Wheat is nothing but whole raw wheat grains cleaned and then processed coarsely. You can have Fada Lapsi using 6 ingredients and 4 steps. Ingredients of Fada Lapsi
- Prepare 1 tbsp of Clarified butter (ghee).
- It’s 1/2 cup of Ground wheat (Fada / Daliya).
- You need 1/2 tsp of Cardamom (elaichi) powdered.
- It’s 1 tbsp of mix dry fruits, for garnishing.
- You need 2 tbsp of Sugar (to taste).
- It’s 1 1/2 cup of Water.
As it doesn't undergo refining it is very healthy. You can use broken wheat in many dishes like lapsi, khichdi, upma etc… Fada lapsi recipe (Gujarati Daliya Lapsi): Lapsi is a dessert/sweet dish famous in western Indian especially in state of Gujarat. Fada Lapsi instructions
- In a non-stick deep pan take clarified butter (ghee) and ground wheat (fada) and roast for 5 to 7 minutes on low flame till it's colour changes to white..
- Add lukewarm water and mix it well..
- Now add sugar to water and ground wheat mixture. Cook on low flame until all the water is soaked. This may take around 15 to 20 minutes..
- Once water is soaked add cardamom powder and mix everything well. To garnish add dry fruits (slivered) on top and serve hot..
